Who are we? |
What we do
|
Alacrity refers to an optimistic readiness. More than anything, it is a response to external things, whether or not it is able to be controlled. Alacrity can be seen as approaching life with readiness and optimism for the inevitable (but often unpredictable) challenges that lay ahead.
Alacrity Health, at it's core, believes in approaching services in a 50/50 partnership; where Alacrity Health forms half, and you, the participant, form the other half. Alacrity Health as a provider of mental health services appreciates the diverse mental health experiences, race, genders, sexual orientation, religious beliefs and more, and approaches service delivery with an open ear and open eyes; we hear you. We want to base our services on what you want and need. This readiness to listen and to grow together is what Alacrity means to us. |
Alacrity Health offers a variety of services, with support work and retreats/getaways at the core. For a list of supports, please click on Services at the top of this page.
The way Alacrity Health develops programs is through community consultation, and these programs are ever-changing based on the feedback and needs of our community. Please get in touch if there is a service you want us to provide. We don't just listen to your feedback, we base our services on it. Why we do itOne key difference between Alacrity Health and other service providers is 'why'. That is, at the core of everything we do, and with every new service we open, we ask 'why'. Our principles are a guideline for how we operate, and so our programs must fall within our principles. These are important to us and we'd love to tell you more about them.

Our principles
Transparency.
Alacrity Health believes that the participant in our service must have full access and control over the use of their services. Within the disability sector, there is often a lack of transparency in how businesses operate, how and what information is secured, and services can be too intrusive in the details they require for service delivery.
That's why our aim is to push for best practice in our field, and to be accountable for the services we provide and the information we request from you. This includes being clear about charges to your NDIS plan including rates and travel. This also includes only asking you for the information we need to be able to provide you the service you want, and you have a right to know why we need this information. We also want to give you the choice to be on our digital mailing list, where you can be updated on, and provide feedback with regards to any service additions or changes.
Alacrity Health believes that setting these standards will encourage other providers to do the same, with the outcome of a more transparent and accountable disability sector where all participants have the right to ask questions and to be kept in the loop.

Sustainability
Sustainability is a broad terms and has more than one meaning for us.
Firstly, it means environmental sustainability. Our sector can, at times, be very lax in preserving resources, whether it be printing, recycling, and so on. Alacrity Health is committed to lowering our impact on a warming earth, and an earth with finite resources. For this reason, Alacrity health commits to: - Developing programs that offset the impact of necessary aspects of our role, e.g. travel (see Responsible Service at the top for more information). This includes donating to non-profits that create renewable sources, or contributes to a more sustainable habitat for humans and animals to share. - Reducing unecessary usage of paper, opting for digital resources unless necessary (e.g. the participant prefers physical copies of information). For exceptions such as this, Alacrity Health commits to using paper that originates from renewable/sustainable sources (FSC certified). - Encouraging sustainable practices at work for our staff, and providing them with a sustainable workplace focussed on reducing waste going to landfill. Secondly, it means financial sustainability. Before the NDIS, participants did not have to worry about the fincancial particulars of their mental health services. Now it is an everyday occurrence, even a stressor, to have to monitor how much money you have and what you can afford in your NDIS plan. Alacrity Health places high importance on providers' accountability in ensuring participants are able to be provided a service for the duration of their plan, and to be honest about any impacts decisions might have on their ability to receive additional services. This is a crucial aspect of choice and control. Responsible service
Our service is based on your needs. Our work is backed by evidence of best practice, trauma-informed practice and is community-based. This means that we work with you your community, to achieve the best outcomes possible.
Responsible service, broadly, means taking responsibility for our part directly in your mental health journey, in the mental health services, and more widely, as an Australian business. As a part of these communities we have a responsibility to partake and to contribute, and not to do harm or to diminish it. Ways that we do this include:
